30th ORARA VALLEY COUNTRY FAIR
THIRTY NOT OUT – ISN’T THAT A RECORD?
And it is STILL a community event, FOR the people, BY the people.
AND WHAT AN EVENT!!!
Put June 9 in your diary right now for a jam-packed day of family fun in the country, where you can join in, kick back or chill out
NOTE: The Upper Orara Recreation Reserve Trust does not allow dogs on the Reserve, so please leave your doggies at home or tie them up to your car while you are at the Fair.
SAVE PETROL, TAKE THE FREE BUS
The FREE Beaumont's bus will leave the Park Avenue bus stop in Coffs Harbour at 10am and will leave the Fair to return to Coffs Harbour at 3.30pm.
PARKING: There is ample free parking at the Fair. To find the Fair from Coffs Harbour, head west up West High Street, which becomes Coramba Road and travel over Red Hill as far as the Karangi General Store, which is just past the lawn cemetery (10km from city centre)
Turn left at Karangi General Store on to Upper Orara Road for about another 6km until you reach the Upper Orara Hall.
Turn right in front of the Hall on to Dairyville Road for about 500 metres where you will find parking and the Fair.
OR JUST FOLLOW THE SIGNS FROM TOWN!
There is parking either side of the Orara River and a 4WD parking area between the bridges.
Volunteer fire fighters s from Orara, Karangi and Coramba Rural Fire Services will direct you

*Circus performances by Circus Amorphous, with trapeze, hula hoop and tumbling
*Country music with Glenreagh’s own Buck Donald
* Highland dancing with the Jacaranda Highland Dancers
*Medieval knights and peasants, sword tourneys and foam sword fighting with the Medieval Guilds
* Full program of wood chopping events, including tree felling
* Belly dancing and drumming with Mirage
* Whip cracking and lessons with top whip cracker and whip maker Brian Fahey from Dundurrabin
* Irish music with Mark Feeney and Headland and Dairyville’s own flute maker Mark Hoza
* Tai chi with Shirley Wong and her Fan Dancers
*Reptile shows with Coffs Harbour’s Steve McEwan and his Reptile World
* Saanen goats from Ted and Noelene Dean’s Nana Glen goat stud
* Welcome to Country by Gumbayngirr elder
* Didgeridoo music and comedy routines by Kerry Neill.
* Try your hand at sheaf tossing – you could win a prize!
*Poultry display by Coffs Harbour Poultry Club

* Dozens of market stalls of all shapes and sizes
* Food, food and more food – eat it now or take it away – there will be 25 food stalls offering curries, noodles, hamburgers, pies, coffees, teas, wraps, ice cream, doughnuts, sausage sandwiches, kebabs, nachos, cakes and bakes, fresh fruit and veggies, seafood, jams, pickles and more.
STALL BOOKINGS: Are closed for the 2008 Fair.
The Fair is organised by a community committee and all proceeds of the Fair go to help maintain the Upper Orara Recreation Reserve , the Upper Orara Community Hall and local charities
The Reserve is managed by a local Trust and the Hall by a community committee.
Neither of them are council facilities and all money to run them is raised by the community , with the help of occasional grants.
The Reserve is currently used for soccer, tennis, playgroup, school sports, 4WD clubs and tours, family picnics and other activities and is available for bookings for functions and sporting events.
The Upper Orara Community There is ample free parking at the Fair, but there is also a Hall turns 100 years old this year. The Hall is the base for the Valley Pre-School; the Monday Funday Quilters and the Upper Orara Melodrama. It is regularly used by Upper Orara Public School and for birthday parties, weddings and other functions. It is available for bookings.
